Rating: Good For $40 (or $30 if you go to Best Buy), you get the original Resident Evil, the easy "training" game that's just like the regular game only easier in some areas, the "advanced" game that is the "Director's Cut" in the title, and, perhaps most notably of all, the Resident Evil 2 demo (which comes on its own separate CD). The "advanced" game is still the same Resident Evil, only with tons of tiny little changes made throughout the game that ultimately make it harder. Cosmetic changes like a new outfit for Jill and some new camera angles were made, plus now there's zombies where there weren't zombies before, dogs jumping out the window scaring the heck out of you in more hallways, and so on. To tell you the truth, those who already own the original Resident Evil (myself included) probably won't want to finish it again with the "advanced" game since there's really not that much of a difference, and therefore I will not buy Resident Evil Director's Cut and I recommend that you don't either if already own the original game. However, Resident Evil veterans should definitely rent it just to briefly check out the changes in the "advanced" game, and (here comes the big one) PLAY THE AWESOME RESIDENT EVIL 2 DEMO. This demo runs you through the beginning of what is going to be an awesome game, and for a demo, it's rather lengthy and gives you your money's worth. Just from playing the demo, Resident Evil 2 appears to be more fast-paced and action-oriented than the original, while still retaining that classic "this is scaring the @#$% out of me" feel. Basically, the sequel has more zombies in more places and more ammo to shoot them with. Plus, the zombies are harder to kill than ever, and there's often so many of them in one room that you have little choice but to try to just run past them. Puzzles don't seem to be as prevalent in the sequel at this point, as there are little to no puzzles in the demo. So basically, if you've already experienced the joy that is Resident Evil and own the game, rent Resident Evil Director's Cut for the Resident Evil 2 demo, but don't go out and buy it. But if you don't already own the original Resident Evil, Resident Evil Director's Cut is a great deal and you should rush out and buy it right now.
